About CPA Exam Lab

Why this exists

Commercial CPA review courses cost $1,500–$3,000, a real barrier for many candidates, especially career changers, international candidates, and anyone paying their own way. CPA Exam Lab was built on a simple premise: the knowledge tested on the CPA exam is public, so high-quality preparation for it should be accessible to everyone. Everything on this site is free, with no registration, no trial windows, and no locked content.

Who builds it

CPA Exam Lab is created and maintained by Burak Genc, founder of Arc & Ledger LLC, an accounting and advisory firm. Arc & Ledger publishes the site and funds its ongoing development as a public resource for CPA candidates. The platform is built “by students, for students”, the lessons, question banks, and study tools grew directly out of preparing for these exams, not out of repackaging a textbook.

What's on the site

All six sections of the CPA Evolution exam are live, the three Core sections and all three Disciplines, covering 112 topics and 690+ practice questions in total:

• Core: FAR, AUD, and REG, every candidate takes all three. REG is updated for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA).
• Disciplines: BAR, ISC, and TCP, you choose one. TCP is OBBBA-updated, and BAR and ISC include task-based simulations.
• Interactive lessons, each topic breaks the material into short concept cards, worked examples, and key-term flip cards.
• Practice questions with full explanations, every answer choice is explained, so you learn why the right answer is right and each wrong one is wrong.
• Timed mock exams, sampled in the same proportions as the AICPA section weights, so practice feels like the real thing.
• AUD Trainer, study sprints, daily challenges, and other game modes that make AUD practice stick.
• Spaced repetition, questions you miss come back automatically at growing intervals, right when you're about to forget them.
• Progress tracking, mastery levels, study streaks, and weak-area detection, all stored privately in your own browser.

How the content is made

Every lesson and question is original work, written from the primary standards and structured around the publicly available AICPA exam blueprints, the official specification of what each section tests. Nothing is copied or adapted from secure exam materials or from any commercial review course. Practice questions include a full explanation for every answer choice, correct and incorrect, because understanding why a distractor is wrong is half the battle on this exam. Content is reviewed against authoritative sources (FASB ASC, auditing standards, the tax code) and corrected promptly when errors are reported.
